This is the game my nine year old son brings out when it is game time as his favorite. I have to admit that I’ve never been really up on my geography, so this has helped all of us review the locations, capitals and nicknames of the fifty states. After playing it repeatedly, some of the “challenge” cards start to get repetitive, so I do wish there were more (or a booster pack) to help keep the game fresh. A single game goes by pretty quickly, and can be easily adapted for younger kids or beginners (just let anyone who meets the criteria in the challenge card win the card, rather than just the person who puts down their card first). You have our recommendation!

This is a wonderful game. I can’t speak highly enough about it. I purchased this game along with the mathcing book for my 6 year old son. He loves geography anyway so it was a good fit. Even though the game is targeted for 8 years old and up, my 6 year old has no problem playing. This game is a good way to encourage kids to learn the states and their location. It also has capitals and state nicknames included. My son can now just look at the shape of most states and be able to know which state it is. As part of the game, each player gets 5 state cards and then has to match it up with the scrambled card that is in play. The cards will say things such as caiptal starts with A or B, or the state name will have to have so many letters or syllables. Then there are distance cards that you have to measure the distance and see who has the state closest to the one in play. It is a lot of fun and educational. I would highly recommend this product.
