100% Whey Protein – Gold Standard (Natural) Reviews
I’ve been using this protein mix (along with ON’s Natural Pro-Complex & Natural Casein) for nearly a month now and I have nothing but good things to say about all of these products. The taste is delicious for something naturally sweetened (in one review a customer points out that stevia is an artificial sweetener and in the same review states that it comes from a leaf thus proving that it is not artificial). I personally don’t think it mixes well with a spoon but shaking it in a lidded container will break up any powder that clumped together. Finally, the price on Amazon is the lowest one I’ve found, especially compared to in-store prices. Overall, I’d recommend this powder, along with the rest of ON’s Natural product line, to anyone with any interest in any level of fitness, nutrition, or bodybuilding.
So – you’ve been researching the 7000 options for Protein Powder and you’ve landed on Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard. Good choice. The quality of the product, the price and the reputation are all great. Now you need to decide on a flavor. After all – if it doesn’t taste good – it doesn’t matter how much it costs. You’re a chocolate guy/girl and think that’s the safest bet. If you’re getting 5 pounds of something, you need to minimize your risk! But do you go with Chocolate or Double Chocolate? I had the same question, so a co-worker and I each got one and did a taste test. Here is what we found:
Chocolate: very tasty! When mixed with skim milk it was pretty close in taste to chocolate milk. No aftertaste and generally one the better powders I’ve tried.
Double Chocolate: also very tasty! Smells way more chocolately in the jar and after mixing with skim milk. This one tasted more like a liquid brownie than chocolate milk. There definitely was a “Double” chocolate kick. No aftertaste and perhaps my favorite powder to date.
The “winner”? Both really. My co-worker was very happy with her choice of Chocolate because it wasn’t overwhelming and I was very happy with the Double because it was more of a “treat” with a bigger chocolate flavor.
So decide which one sounds like you – and buy with confidence. At 120 calories for 24g of protein, you’ll be getting what you need with a great taste.

This was my first purchase of a Whey Protein mix. I did some research prior to it and went with this one based on previous user reviews. This one taste great, but I don’t really have another point of reference. Another PLUS is that it is natural (no artifical sweetners), which is very important to me and something we all should consider.
I have lost over 100 lbs. over the last year and started recently to hit the weights harder. With the increased weight training, I wanted to add more protein to my diet or at least be able to sustain an appropriate level. I don’t eat a significant amount of meat products so I needed to supplement my protein intake somehow.
I have noticed a lot of lean muscle development. I can only ASSUME that the WHEY protein is helping. I try to eat a balanced diet and this product with its 24 grams of protein per serving is definitely helping me meet my protein consumption on a daily basis… and as I mentioned, it taste great (I blend it with ice and it comes out nice and thick).
