Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System for $136.00

Overall satisfaction:
This product worked as advertised. I am happy with it so far.
Installation:
It was easy to set up in my home, and I plan to purchase more sensors to add to the system. The hardest part of the installation was to make sure the door sensors were mounted properly. I have moulding around my doors which made alignment a little more tricky.
Aesthetic:
The design of this system is wireless, so the components are a little more bulky because of the batteries. I wish the system could look a little nicer, but I guess the bland look and beige color fits mosts homes.
Performance:
No problems so far. All sensors operate.

Reliable, Cutting-Edge System Uses Trouble-Free Wireless Connections
Keep your home or business safe and secure with this reliable, cutting-edge wireless security system. The SC-1000 utilizes innovative technology with trouble-free wireless connections to provide security, making it a great choice for protecting against intruders and safeguarding in case of an accident, fire, flood, or other emergency.
Do-it-Yourself Security Eliminates the Need for Monitoring Fees
The SC-1000 is a do-it-yourself system, which means you can easily install it yourself and then use it without paying monitoring fees or registering with an alarm company. To arm or disarm, you simply enter your personal code or use the keychain transmitter.
Rolling-Code Technology for Maximum Security and Fewer False Alarms
|
Skylink is the first company to incorporate rolling-code technology into a home/business security system, which means that the SC-1000 provides maximum security while virtually eliminating the number of false alarms. A rolling code (or hopping code) is often used in entry systems that don’t require a key, because it prevents an eavesdropper from capturing and using your personal security code. Thanks to rolling-code technology, the SC-1000’s control panel will recognize radio waves only from its remote sensors (door/window sensor, motion sensor, and keychain transmitter), thereby preventing high-tech thieves from duplicating signals and tampering with your system.
Motion, Door, and Window Sensors for Reliable Emergency Protection
The SC-1000 comes complete with a motion sensor and two door/window sensors–enough coverage for small- to medium-sized homes. Because it works in conjunction with up to 30 Skylink security accessories, including Dial Alert, Alarm Detector Sensor, and Flood Sensor, this system can be customized to suit your needs and can be expanded to accommodate larger spaces or businesses that require a higher level of protection. If any sensors are triggered when the system is armed, the included 110dB siren will make a piercing sound, and the sensor will immediately send a wireless signal to the system’s dialer.
Automatically Calls for Help in an Emergency
In case of an emergency, the SC-1000 follows a straightforward process to make sure you get the help you need. When you receive the system, you can program the emergency dialer to call up to nine different phone numbers, including your cellular phone, a pager, your doctor, relatives, friends, neighbors, etc., should something trigger one of the sensors. You’ll also record a personal 40-second emergency message. In case of emergency, the system’s dialer will automatically dial the number or numbers you have entered. Once the recipient picks up the phone, the emergency dialer will play your prerecorded message and inform the recipient that you are in an emergency situation and that help should be sent right away.
Lighted Keypad and Low-Battery Indicator for Easy Operation
Offering simple and straightforward operation, the SC-1000 features a lighted keypad that is easy to read in dark conditions and offers Chime, Instant, and Delay modes. It runs on AC power with nine-volt alkaline battery backup (battery included), and provides a helpful low-battery indicator to prevent a loss of power.
What’s in the Box

Customer Reviews
Yes, you can use the auto-dialer feature with a cell phone – C. Martin – Phoenix, AZ
There are already a lot of very well done reviews for this product, so I am not going to repeat what they have said. I just want to quickly let others know that you can use the auto-dialer feature with a cell phone. I was able to do so using the PhoneLabs PHO-DNTA100 Dock-N-Talk,but I’m sure there are many similar products that do the same thing. I got a cheap pre paid phone and connected it to the Dock-N-Talk using their BlueTooth module. One tip, make sure that the cell phone you use is not set to lock after several minutes of not being used.
Decent Product, Horrible Instructions – Mark –
THE GOOD NEWS: Once finally installed, everything works well together, and at an affordable price. I even successfully modified some default programming to suit my specific needs.
THE BAD NEWS: Instructions are horrible. Included are a plethora of small slips of paper, manuals, instructions, pamphlets, etc. Clearly a single clear instruction manual is required.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: On calling customer service, I was informed I would receive a call back “right away”, which did not happen until the next day. I did however get an email response within 24 hours that directly answered my question by correcting the errors in one of the manuals regarding controller to Dialer sync.
OVERALL: I recommend this system if you are looking for a basic DIY home alarm system and are patient enough to endure horrible instructions.
Short back up battery life – Tom North – Bay Area, CA
A quick additional note to the excellent reviews so far.
The back up battery may be able to handle brief electrical outages but not major ones. Once the battery has run down the “low battery” light comes on and stays on even after you install a new one. In addition to the light staying on the control unit also beeps several time each minute. An email to the manufacturer asking if there was a reset button or other technique was answered by a generic “return the unit for inspection” answer. Not easy from Costa Rica! The correct answer should have been “yes”, unplug the unit and remove the battery for at least 2 hours (I had tried 1 minute). I have now replaced the 9V back up battery with a 12V motorcycle battery; seems to work well but this was not suggested but the manufacturer. Otherwise read the other helpful comments about poor instructions and consider tying the dialer to the main control panel and not the individual sensors.
easy and quick setup – woshiadai2007 – San Francisco, CA
this kit is very easy to set up and install, really like its wireless feature. The package is quite nicely designed, they even offered double-faced tape so that you can stick the door/window alarm easily on the glass door (it is not possible to drill holes on the plastic border of the door). Highly recommend it and will order one more motion sensor and two more door alarms.
